Did you know every year over 1 billion plastic toothbrushes are thrown away world wide? These beautifully design, bamboo tooth brushes has plant based bristles and are biodegradable. Bamboo is a natural antibacterial and antifungal material so it is great for products which need to be hygienic like your toothbrush. Bamboo is resistant to natural pests which means it is also farmed organically. Truthbrushes are made from Moso Bamboo which is inedible to pandas so these products are made to the detriment of these animals. They are made in China from a sustainable forest.
Why Castor Oil Bristles?
We would love to find a genuine plastic-free alternative to nylon bristles which could biodegrade. However, after extensive research we realised that the only non-plastic alternative is boar bristles (pig hair), which would be unacceptable to many people. There are also unsubstantiated claims of biodegradable nylon 4 bristles but in reality this is not commercially available. We therefore use bristles which are 62% castor oil and 38% nylon, which means less petroleum-based plastic. We are constantly searching for an alternative, but until then, we believe that a biodegradable handle with castor oil-based bristles is much better than a plastic toothbrush.

Why Lucy Loves
The bamboo toothbrush was one of the my first ever swaps, I read somewhere that all the plastic toothbrushes are still around today. That thought just freaked me out and I started looking for plastic free alternatives. I have been using Truthbrush for a couple of years and I am so happy none my toothbrushes are now going to landfill. I love the colours and design of these products.
